HATEWATCH: Tim Blair's buddies inadvertently accuse Jews of belonging to an "intolerant faith" ...

I've said and written this many a time. The prejudicial rhetoric used against certain minority groups today is merely a repetition of the prejudicial rhetoric used against other minority groups in times gone past. In the years leading upto the Holocaust, the European and Western far-Right imposed their uncontrolled and unmedicated hate toward anyone they deemed Jewish. Today they do the same against anyone deemed Muslim.

The regular band of nutbags that surround Daily Telegraph opinion editor Tim Blair are typical examples of this phenomenon. Even before his blog was hosted by the Tele, Blair allowed a host of racist commentary onto his site, including this classic about Rupert Murdoch's daughter.

Being hosted by a major newspaper appears not to have lifted the standards of comment at Planetim. Blair couldn't help but comment on the Royal North Shore Hospital beat-up, claiming that the hospital chapel had been "de-Jesused".

Aiming to avoid conflict and anger, the Royal North Shore Hospital has instead increased it.

But anger among who? It seems the only angry people are some of Tim Blair's cyber-nazis. Here are some of their rants:

Before anyone bags out Jews and Jewish food requirements, just remember that Jews have never expected KFC, Maccas, et al, you and me, to change to suit them.

Why would a person of one faith be offended by seeing the religious symbols of another faith?

It actually highlights the deep-rooted insecurity of these other, intolerant faiths.
For if their followers are so secure in their beliefs, they would surely not feel threatened or offended by the religious symbols of other faiths.

On the evening news tonight no mention was made of who might be offended by crosses and bibles. In fact the news reader talked about the move without once mentioning Muslims.

Yes, these intolerant people who want to support religious separatism, who impose their intolerant religion on us. Who are these nasty devious ugly despicable people with their intolerant religion? Why kind of foreign Middle Eastern force is at work here? What kind of people would support a hospital chapel being "de-Jesused"?

Well, you'd have to have read the hard-copy version of Sydney's Daily Telegraph on Thursday 9 April to know the answer. On page 2, health reporter Kate Sikora writes:

The Australian/Jewish Affairs Council [sic.] supported the hospital, saying more people would be likely to use the chapel.

Bren Carlill, a policy analyst, said some from other religions might be offended.

"The fact that they are willing to go to such lengths to encourage religious communities to worship is great," he said. "There are people from lots of different groups who almost like getting offended - and then there are the other people who don't get offended."

So which nasty evil foreign intolerant separatist group supports such actions and has earned the ire of Tim Blair's buddies for having a hospital chapel "de-Jesused"?

THE JEWS!!!

But don't dare describe Tim Blair as a racist. He doesn't need to be. His commenters to it all for him. Tim just moderates it all.

UPDATE II: As if to confirm the above, Tim Blair doesn't hesitate to source a story from neo-Nazi Sheik Yer'mami. It's not the first time Blair has used the "Yer'mami News Network".

And read this extraordinary gushing tribute to Austrian neo-Nazi politician Joerg Haider from Yer'mami. Here's what Ha'aretz has to say about Haider:

He commended the Third Reich's employment policy, called SS members "decent people," compared the Jews' deportation during the war to the expulsion of the German Sudetens and described the extermination camps as "punishment camps."

... he said that "every foreigner, even if he's a criminal, receives more government support than an Austrian pensioner," or "it makes no difference whether it's a Romanian pickpocket or a Socialist finance minister who's taking the money out of your pocket." Daily Telegraph blogger and opinion editor Tim Blair just loves to have a good laugh with his regular online buddies. And what could be more worthy of laughs than a woman being murdered, allegedly by her husband in an extreme case of domestic violence?

Sensible people would find domestic violence rather depressing. It happens everywhere and in all communities. Almost always it's men being violent to women.

Some of us spend time campaigning against domestic violence. But for the Daily Telegraph, domestic violence is a source of great laughs. Check out some of the comments moderated and featured on this Tele blogpost:

A woman is murdered in the most gruesome fashion. Her husband is arrested and charged with her murder. Her family and community are mourning. I can only begin to imagine what her kids are going through.

Then again, I should factor in the possibility that these comments were left by nasty anonymous leftoids determined to make Blair look even more racist than he already is. Pfft. Now that certainly is something worth laughing at.

UPDATE I: Someone has pointed out to me that beheadings have happened in a variety of places. In August 2008, a 31 year old Greek man was found carrying his girlfriend's head after beheading her at a popular tourist resort. No doubt Tim's resident cybernazis will also find a few laughs in this tragedy. Or perhaps they will start poking fun at the Greek Orthodox Church. Who knows?

HATEWATCH: Tim Blair denies responsibility for his wacky friends ...

Tim Blair, opinion editor and blogger for the Daily Telegraph, has suddenly decided that he'd better disown the racist and xenophobic attitudes of some of his pals congregating around his bog ... woops ... blog. How so?

Blair is now claiming that persons from that nebulous monolithic group known as “the Left” are deliberately posting racist and hate-filled comments on his blogs. Why? To make Blair look like a nasty racist.

Try not to laugh.

Of course, all this raises some interesting questions – how did these comments make their way onto Blair's blogs in the first place? Doesn’t News Limited have a policy on comments?

Indeed it does. You can read it here. For those with the literacy levels of Blair's fans, I'll simplify the policy for you.

The policy states ...

We can only accept your content though if you comply with the terms and conditions set out below.

Among these conditions is that ...

News will determine, at its discretion, whether to publish (or remove from a site) any of your content ...

... and that ...

News may edit your content in its discretion.

Further, comment must ...

... not breach any law (including laws relating to privacy, intellectual property and defamation) or the rights of any person.

And that presumably includes breaches of laws forbidding racial and other prejudice and vilification.

Now let’s have a look at some comments moderated on Tim Blair’s blog. At 4:04pm on Friday 13 February, Blair allowed this comment through concerning the understandably angry responses of locals to a person arrested for deliberately lighting one of the recent Victorian bushfires:

Just tell the mob he’s a Palestinian. That’ll justify any amount of murder.

It took almost 8 hours for a further comment to be posted condemning this racist and anti-Semitic remark. But why was it allowed on the Tele blog in the first place? And why is it still there?

Of course, racist, murderous, xenophobic and defamatory comments are nothing new to Blair’s Tele blog. On 17 May 2008, Blair awoke at 4:59am to write this blogpost. He then moderated a comment by one “El Cid” at 12:36pm which suggested a ...

... compost solution ...

... would be a good way of dealing with Muslims. The comment is still there on Blair's blog on the Tele website to this day.

The Oz went on the rampage when The Age published an allegedly racist article by Michael Backman. Yet its sister papers are quite happy to host blogs that moderate murderous and racist remarks. The Age suspended Backman’s contributions. Will News Limited suspend or terminate the services of Tim Blair? Or will it wait until it’s hauled before the Australian Communications & Media Authority or the Australian Human Rights Commission? Or until its advertisers decide that supporting a newspaper that promotes racism, bigotry and genocidal thinking may not be such a good idea? And if advertisers desert Sydney's biggest selling newspaper, what impact will this have on News Limited's share price?

But the Tele doesn't seem to care about such factors. hence it actively promotes Blair's blog, encouraging readers to "join the debate". The Tele's editors and owners are clearly quite happy hosting a blog that moderates comments calling for certain groups to be transformed into compost, for others to be murdered, etc etc.

And the in-house lawyers at Nationwide News don't seem too perturbed either. All legal practitioners in New South Wales are required under Clause 176 of the Legal Profession Regulations to complete at least 1 CLE unit on discrimination or OH&S each three years. You'd think at least the lawyers would have advised their client/employer of the importance of establishing a workplace where discrimination is not promoted, let alone fostered.

Still, even Tele readers aren't that stupid. They don't seem to be getting the message. Little wonder most of those congregating at Blair's blog are the same crazy far-Right neo-Nazi crowd (largely outside Australia) that he has attracted all along.

UPDATE I: Tim Blair telephoned me on the evening of 24 February 2009 at around 7:50pm to advise me that I had made an error in my post. he said that the anonymous lefties were leaving nasty comments not on his blog but rather on Andrew Bolt's blog. Which, of course, makes a huge difference to this entire issue, doesn't it. When I asked about the comment moderated on his blog regarding the murder of Palestinians, Blair said:

I suspect that was left by a leftwing troll.

So it seems Bolt isn't the only one who has suddenly discovered that sometimes his regular fans mysteriously morph into "leftwing trolls". Blair also refused to advise on who actually moderated the comments appearing on his blog.

HATEWATCH: Some more non-racial comments left on Bolt's Herald-Sun blog ...

Once again, the good folk at the Herald-Sun website have little trouble in moderating some completely non-racial comments so that they appear on Mr Bolt's blog. Read and enjoy.

COMEDY: Herald-Sun writer exposes marsupial jihad

Writing in the Sunday Herald-Sun, Eleni Hale desperately clings to straws in an effort to find a jihadi angle to the bushfire tragedy in Victoria.

In an article headed Jihadists revel in our misery, Hale reports as follows ...

Terror watchdogs said fundamentalists had blogged on websites across the globe, applauding the lives lost and destruction.

Senior analyst at SITE Intelligence Group Adam Raisman said they were posting pictures of burnt homes and devastated victims and "taking joy in the scenes".

Who is this SITE Intelligence Group? You can find out more about this non-government profit-making enterprise here. SITE takes a fair wack of its work from MEMRI, an organisation which seems to have its own political and sectarian agenda.

Hale then revels in putting her discovery to one bushfire victim:

Bushfires victims said they were stunned.

"We're minding our own business and trying to cope with all this and they are celebrating our suffering," said Denise McCann who lost her home in the Kinglake blaze.

So one bushfire victim becomes "bushfire victims". Maybe basic numerical skills aren't a prerequisite for employment at some newspapers. And maybe tabloid editors shouldn't waste victims' (or should that be victim's?) time with such nonsense.

And who are the jihadists that are revelling in our collective misery? Again, when evidence is required, plural suddenly becomes singular:

One jihadist wrote: "It would be an act of revenge for Australian's participation in the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq."

One "jihadist"? Where? On what site? In what language? When? Is Hale citing Osama bin Ladin typing this from his cave? Or is this "jihadist" a 15 year old kid writing on this online chat room?

Already Hale's article has been picked up by a variety of websites known for their sensible and unprejudiced reporting and analysis.

But it seems the Herald-Sun's readers don't share Hale's obsession with finding the jihadist angle to everything.

This is an unnecessary and dangerously incendiary article. How stupid and pointless to stir up anti-Muslim sentiment at a time when emotions are running high and there's so much good will and community support to be celebrated.

In announcing the arrest of a 39 year old in relation to alleged acts of arson leading to at least one of the Victorian bushfires, Blair and his colleagues at the Daily Telegraph allowed this comment to be posted:

This is racism pure an simple. Despite having employed not one but two persons to carry out moderating of comments, the Tele has allowed racist remarks about Australians of Palestinian origin and heritage to be moderated and posted in its blog. Indeed, a few paragraphs below this racist comment appearing, the moderator kn own as "Tran" deleted a comment and stated:

Bill, you’re doing it again. You want to use this place as a personal forum. It isn’t. Start your own site - Tran

And how about this moderated beauty ...

It’s time Australia had a serious look at Islamic immigration. We need time out to stake stock of the value this demographic brings to out society ... Even Blind Freddy can see where their loyalties lie. Australia needs loyal citizens, not terrorist supporting bigots.

A certain scholarly person calling him/her/itself wronwright of VRWC left this breathtakingly brilliant remark at Tim Blair's blog on Friday 16 Jan 09 at 06:19am ...

If the Palestinians had an ounce of common sense and vision, they’d work hard on gaining the trust of all non-Muslims (e.g., Jews, Christians, Hindus, atheists) ... But no, the Palestinians suffer from the same affliction that affects most other Muslims. They have their collective heads up their asses.

He's right. Islamic fanatics like Hanan Ashrawi and Victor Batarseh are responsible for the Palestinians' plight. How can you expect a people who are 100% Muslim to get anywhere?

I don’t really want this thread to turn away from Greg Sher, whose memory deserves to blessed.

However, if you want to compare Jewish intellectual output with Islamic output, it’s a pretty short game.

There are a mere 12 Million Jews in the entire world yet they have received 184 Nobel Prizes.

The Muslims number 1.4 Billion (with a very big “B")… or 117 times the number of Jews! Based upon this 117:1 Muslim-to-Jewish ratio, one might expect the Muslims to have 24,920 Nobel Laureates.

But they have NINE!. [One was stabbed in the back by Islamists for his achievement], and one of them [Arafat] was a murderer

Comparing Jews to Muslims is a waste of time. I was focusing specifically on immigration to Sydney, for which you can probably use any other ethnic immigrant group as an comparison.

Ever notice that when the Taliban or the Palestinians or most any other Muslim terrorist group commit an act of violence, it’s usually shooting a rocket? And when the Aussies fight, it’s usually up close, man to man?

Okay, I’ll grant there’s an exception when it comes to punishing unarmed women for baring an ankle or allowing themselves to be raped. Muslim men are all upfront and personal when it comes to putting women in their place.

Camden resident Kate McCulloch had much to say to the Sydney Morning Herald after Camden Council rejected the Muslim school proposal.

The ones that come here oppress our society, they take our welfare and they don't want to accept our way of life.

This entire Camden school mass-debate has been hijacked by fruitloops like Fred Nile and the Australia-First Party. These people claim to speak for a community they are not a part of.

Shakira Hussein reminded us back in December that Islam isn’t new to Camden . The Sufi Movement of Australia’s website mentions its first founder, one Baron Friedrick Elliot von Frankenberg und Ludwigsdorf and his wife Olive Taylor ...

… settled on a dairy farm called ‘Spring Hills’ at Camden , on the outskirts of Sydney . The couple built a modern house that they furnished with Persian pottery, European embroidery, Hindu and Buddhist sculpture, and an extensive library of mystical and philosophical writings … On his death, at the age of 61, he was buried in the Camden cemetery.

One wonders if the Baron or indeed any other Camden Muslims ever spoke in a secret code language called “Islamic”. Certainly this was on the mind of one Camden resident who told Radio National:

My kids can't read Islamic, how are they going to go to that school?

If he’s right, and if the school limits enrolment to students able to fluently converse in “Islamic”, I doubt it will attract students of any faith. The project will be a complete waste of time and money.

Speaking of waste, which imbecile has been advising the thick-sheiks at the Australian Federation of Islamic Councils? AFIC spokesman Ikebal Patel told the Sydney Morning Herald today that the closure of Camden school could push Islamic religious education underground and lead to kids coming under the influence of extremists. Let these dudes build a school or Muslim youth will become suicide bombers. Yep, that’ll remove all the hysteria.

AFIC, of course, really represents young Muslims. Over 50% of Aussie Muslims are under 40, Australian-born and speak English as their first language. Over 50% of Aussie Muslims are female. Yet none of these majority blocs is represented on the AFIC executive. Meanwhile, the organisation continues to squander precious resources on internecine battles in the Supreme Court.

All sides of this debate have been represented by unrepresentative people. When the sensible majority aren’t heard, it means the extremists have already won.

HATEWATCH: Michelle Malkin spews all over Rachel Ray's Dunkin' kafiyyeh ...

Thanks to Crikey for pointing out how far-Right morons like Michelle Malkin continue to exercise control over News Corporation (which, as we all know, is at least 7% Saudi-owned).

Crikey linked to a report from the Boston Globe which reports of American donut giant Dunkin' Donuts which ...

... has abruptly canceled an ad in which the domestic diva wears a scarf that looks like a keffiyeh, a traditional headdress worn by Arab men.

This came after pressure from FoxNews commentator and blogger Michelle Malkin made this interesting anthropological observation ...

The keffiyeh, for the clueless, is the traditional scarf of Arab men that has come to symbolize murderous Palestinian jihad ... Popularized by Yasser Arafat and a regular adornment of Muslim terrorists appearing in beheading and hostage-taking videos, the apparel has been mainstreamed by both ignorant and not-so-ignorant fashion designers, celebrities, and left-wing icons.

Malkin is right. Anyone who accepts her version of Arab culture is clueless.

For the benefit of this minority of clueless far-Right fruitloops, Dunkin' has removed the advertisement. In her typically hysterical fashion, Malkin made this observation on her hate-blog ...

It's refreshing to see an American company show sensitivity to the concerns of Americans opposed to Islamic jihad and its apologists.

Yep. No doubt Rupert Murdoch will now ban members of the Saudi royal family from buying any further shares in his all-American company!

By the way, Michelle, judging by your facial features, my guess is that many FoxNews viewers might doubt that you are a true-blue American. Then again, their ideological equivalent in Australia often get confused by my ethnic background as well.

For those who want to learn more about Malkin, her book In Defence of Internment has now been remaindered and can be purchased for under $5 at Basement Books in central Sydney. But don't buy it yet. Wait until they start giving it out.

HATEWATCH: Daily Telegraph Editor promotes conspiratorial hate-site on his blog?

Tim Blair, blogger and opinion page editor of the Sydney tabloid Daily Telegraph, has a large advertisement placed on his blog for a site calling itself “Australian Islamist Monitor”.

From its title, the site appears harmless enough. Who could object to a site seeking to expose extremist theocratic politics in Australia? Islamism is just one of numerous socially toxic trends, and Muslims make up most of its victims.

The problem is that Muslims also make up the subject of the hysterical and often racist rhetoric on the AIM site. This is not an Islamist monitor. This site is devoted to maligning mainstream Muslim institutions with little relevance or interest in politics. It also promotes some kind of grand conspiracy that ordinary Muslim citizens making up hardly 2% of the Australian community are conspiring to take over Australia.

Here’s a taste of what the AIM site has to offer …

No other totalitarian ideology mastered deception and playing the victimhood card better than Islam … It was the founder of Islam, Muhammad, who discovered that you can get away with murder as long as you insist that you acted under extreme provocation and/or in self-defense. Heck, people are free to criticise Islam or any other religion. No skin off my nose. The problem is that this site doesn't limit itself to maligning a religion.

If you look at the weblinks listing alleged Islamist sites and institutions, you’ll notice even companies and institutions that have little if anything to do with religion, let alone political Islamism. Among these is Habib Finance Australia, an arm of a major Pakistani bank with branches across the world.

Also in the list are mainstream institutions such as the Auburn Gallipoli Mosque, as well as interfaith initiatives such as the Australian Intercultural Society.

The objectives of the site include:

To make the Australian public (schools, universities, government programs) aware of the true intentions of what is currently recognised as the mainstream Islam (and help them identify these hostile intentions).

… and …

All applicants from Muslim regions must be treated as a potential security risk (including Muslim refugees from Islamic countries claiming religious persecution).

… and …

In all government employment policies national security must take priority over equal opportunity principles.

This isn't just about Islamist ideology or its more extreme adherents. This is about drumming up serious hatred toward anyone among 360,000 Australians that tick the "Muslim" box on their census forms. It's about using the kind of rhetoric used to drum up hatred toward Jews some 60 years ago. Now the same type of rhetoric is promoted on the personal website of the editor of a major Sydney newspaper.

Is this the type of material which a senior editor of a major newspaper seeks to promote? Why is Tim Blair promoting such a site on his blog?

Tim Blair's buddies on the AIM site also make room to mention me in the following glowing terms ...

His [Hilaly's] recent support for Iranian Islamic theocracy, induced some severe reactions against our anti-Semitic, Islamist Mufti- not only from the MSM and politicians- but even from Islamist toadies like Irfan Yusuf, who normally would try his best to implant some deceptive spin on the issue with his usual total disregard for facts.

Sounds like the sort of nonsense certain anonymous comment-makers leave on this blog from time to time. Or the kinds of comments the Daily Telegraph allow on their blogs.
